The following is not exhaustive and will be updated over time however for the purposes of providing consistent platforms from which to determine criteria, a number of specific considerations are used throughout the UK Wrestling Archive, no opinions or political leanings are intended and any such assumptions are in direct contradiction to this notice.
5 Continent Model:
In order to create a robust and meaningful base, capable of standing up to contention, while still allowing achievable and realistic classification criteria, the UK Wrestling Archive recognise the ‘5 Continent Model’ of Africa, America, Asia, Europe & Oceania, as specified in the International Olympic Committee Charter, to determine ‘World’ Titles.
Championship classifications:
Unless created through unification or being officially splintered from an already established title, ALL titles are considered to be Regional Titles within the UK Wrestling Archive upon inauguration and any ‘World’ or similar denotations are not recognised until earned.
The 4 classifications recognised by the UK Wrestling Archive are;
Regional – A Championship which is (or was) defended within a specific regional area, such as a single venue or handful of venues within a single City/ Town where the controlling promotion is considered to be operating from.
National – A Championship which is (or was) defended outside of a specific regional area, but is not taken beyond the recognised international border(s) of the country where the controlling promotion is based.
International – A Championship which is (or was) defended internationally, beyond the recognised international border(s) of the country where the controlling promotion is based.
World – A Championship which is (or was) defended globally as detailed in the ‘5 Continent Model’.
